Meet Early Bird Members

Olivier Clinton, Brundi

1. Please briefly introduce yourself.

    a. Briefly, sure. My name is Olivier Clinton, 24 years old. I’m from Brundi, Central East Africa. I’m a student of Handong, and it is my last year and my last semester in Handong.

2. What made you to come to Handong?

    a. Girls… nah, I’m just kidding, ha ha. No, I got a full scholarship from this school. I didn’t even know that I would be here in Korea. The processes were made by a missionary, so I applied, and I got accepted, and… here I am! For real, I didn’t know that I would be here, but somehow God just opened up the way and here I am. I never thought of South Korea that I will study in here.

3. Why did you join Early Bird?

    a. Because of You Man!! (yelling at Ray, the president of Early Bird) Umm.. mostly just for running. I am not a really good runner or something, but I just wanted to do something fun for my last semester. That was my first motivation and the second was because running makes you healthy, also running helped to keep my shape, i think I am changing. I don’t want to brag about it, but you know my body has been changed a lot. And it is for my benefit, and umm.. you know I won’t regret joining Early Bird. Running is good, and this is for my body, and there’s nothing wrong about it.

4. What do you think about this club?

    a. First of all, it makes you not lazy. It helps you to wake up early because I try my best to stick on my promise that I would come to every running and yeah I try my best. You know when you wake up early in the morning, it helps you somehow to be discipline. Somehow Early Bird helps you in every way. So, I think it is very good discipline.

5. Is there any thing you want to say like advice or recommendation to the people who want to join Early Bird?

    a. I would say... be responsible. Once you committed to this club, go through it till the semester’s over, because I just want to tell you once you go through it, you are not going to regret, and once you do it, it is going to help you a lot. It will help you not only for the health issue, but also for your entire body and you will be somehow disciplined. And that was the most challenging for me. And it helps you to save some time. You know, when you wake up early in the morning, after you run, there is so much time left. I think I would just encourage the people who want to join Early Bird just to be disciplined and to stick with the commitment you made because once you sign up and once you commit it, hold on to your promises, and you won’t regret. Running in the spring and the summer time is awesome. However, running during the winter time is very hard because of the weather. Anyway, I am very content to be in Early Bird.
